Adam Davison
Director of Data Science,
Advertising Standards Authority
The Advertising Standards Authority is the UK regulator of advertising in all media. As Director of Data Science Adam focusses on how AI can help regulate the increasingly huge numbers of ads being produced online, especially in a world where generative AI is making content creation faster and easier than ever. Adam leads on the ASA's Active Ad Monitoring system, which used AI to scan over 60m online ads in 2025, providing intelligence that was crucial to how the ASA dealt with topics like climate claims in ads, ads for gambling and alcohol products, cosmetic surgery abroad, and prescription-only weight-loss medications. Adam is also involved in the ASA's approach to AI more generally, including approach to regulating generative AI in ads, and claims made about products that use AI.
Originally from a background in academia, with a PhD in Physics from UCL, Adam has since led data science teams working in online retail and publishing prior to joining the ASA in 2021.
