Karen joined Sainsbury's back in 1991 as a part time store colleague while studying. Thirty-two years later she has had a squiggly career path across many parts of the organisation. Spending time in Retail and with our store teams for the first 18 years, before moving into Senior leadership roles in our store support centre. Since 2009 Karen has led large teams and these roles have included Change and Programme roles in our Retail division, five years as the Head of Internal Audit & Risk for Sainsbury's plc, and two stints in Tech, one leading our Service Operations teams 24/7, and more recently as the Director of Engineering for Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance and Controls, delivering large scale transformation. Karen was promoted to the Deputy CTO role in addition to her accountabilities in January 2023. Outside of work, she loves to spend time with friends and family, and is the social organiser of a calender full of events, from live music and theatre to dinners and catch ups. The beach is her favourite place, and her 18-month-old chocolate brown Labrador loves it too.
